The National University of Singapore hopes to seed and incubate up to 250 tech-based start-ups through its Graduate Research Innovation Programme (GRIP).
Under this programme, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and research staff will be able to establish start-ups as an individual or a team of not more than 3 members. A GRIP programme typically is of duration 12 months and can be extended up to a maximum of 15 months.
The aim of the programme is to support deep-tech based start-ups with good market and business potential. In particular, NUS hopes to address unmet market needs.
NUS will spend $25 million over five years in the process and the start-ups’ work will be expected to involve the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Candidates are expected to attend workshops, 1 to 1 meet the instructor sessions, and complete assignments designated by the venture creation course instructor.
