Singapore Management University has 20 professional master’s degree programmes, and the university will be adding one more this year — a Master of Science in Accounting (Data and Analytics).
SMU will also be expanding its current Master of Science in Economics programme to include two new tracks in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics in addition to a revamped Applied Economics track.
Generally, the master’s programmes at SMU can be classified into general management and specialised master’s programmes. Disciplines that are being offered include finance, communications, accounting, law and information technology.
According to Associate Professor Themin Suwardy, the dean for Postgraduate Professional Programmes at SMU, a combination of personal growth and opportunities for career development and advancement are usually the main reasons why students choose to pursue postgraduate study.
A postgraduate education also helps to broaden exposure, be it through studies, overseas stints or networking with classmates.
