Minister of Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng has said that schools should set aside time and space for students to explore their interests.
Mr Ng said that students should be encouraged to explore new ideas, question assumptions, establish connections between different fields of study, dream up solutions, and be willing to learn a diverse range of things.
These would add up to what he calls an “Innovation Quotient”.
Mr Ng also said that technological disruption embodies great potential and possibilities, if Singaporeans can ride the wave.
Innovation is not about a single eureka moment that pops up unexpectedly, but is an ongoing process of exploration.
