The Ministry of Education will be relaxing its qualifying criteria for Singapore students who apply for financial help. This will allow an additional 10,000 students to qualify.
Minister for Education (Schools) Ng Chee Meng announced in Parliament that the gross household monthly income cap will be raised from $2,500 to $2,750, and the per capita income ceiling will go up from $625 to $690.
Students have to come from families that earn less than the ceiling in order to qualify for financial help.
Furthermore, the bursary quantum for junior college and pre-university students will be increased from $750 to $900.
More middle-income families will be getting higher fee subsidies as well.
