According to a survey conducted recently, twenty-five per cent of Singapore companies have adopted environmentally sustainable practices.
Meanwhile, the government has devised a Public Sector Sustainability Plan in which the public sector plans to reduce electricity and water consumption by 15 per cent and 5 per cent respectively by 2020.
All these initiatives mean that university degree programmes involving environmental science will become even more relevant in the years ahead.
The Bachelor of Business and Environmental Science program at James Cook University, for instance, was established to meet this growing demand for environmental science graduates.
The JCU degree provides students with the core knowledge and training necessary to apply business and environmental science principles. Students have the opportunity to engage with industry leaders and understand what skills are needed in the real world.
