Graduates from Singapore’s polytechnics as well as the Institute of Technical Education will receive more targeted support in their search for a job.
Under this new initiative called the Career Starter Programme, about 28,000 graduating ITE and polytechnic students will receive a guide on job hunting to help them transit to the working world and will be able to experience more intensive and personalised coaching.
The Career Starter Programme is implemented by Workforce Singapore (WSG), a statutory board under the Ministry of Manpower.
Currently, the ITE and polytechnics already provide career and education guidance as well as mentorship from alumni and industry representatives.
Now, depending on their needs, the students may also receive one-to-one career counselling, have the opportunity to develop networking skills, and may even be given a chance to tour a company before taking up a position.
