Fees for medicine and dentistry courses at local universities will go up this academic year.
However, for 90 percent of the remaining course offered at the six national universities, there will not be any fee increases this academic year.
Annual tuition fees for medicine and dentistry courses at the National University of Singapore will go up by $500 for new students, while fees for a medicine course at Nanyang Technological University will rise by a similar amount.
The Ministry of Education has said that the Government is committed to providing significant subsidies that will cover almost three-quarters of a student’s total cost of education.
The MOE said it will collaborate with the universities to ensure that financial assistance is available.
