In was recently reported that the National University of Singapore came under a phishing attack earlier this month in an attempt to gain access to its academic research.
The attack targeted student and alumni accounts.
An NUS spokesman said its information technology department is carrying out a thorough internal investigation to assess the potential impact of the phishing attack.
In the latest attack, students and alumni were sent an e-mail informing them that their access to the library system would expire soon. They were told to renew it by clicking on a link by a certain date, failing which they would lose access to all library online services.
It is understood that the source of the attack could be Silent Librarian, a cybercrime group operating out of Iran that directs attacks at universities.
